Brown Bag It!: NYCC 2008 Mr. CONiVERSE

Brown Bag It!

Warning:
this may contain "spoilers" that will help save you money at future cons!

New York Comic Con is the center of universe on the east coast for everything geeky in comics, movies, books, video games, etc. If you didn't go to this con then you may as well have been in a coma for three days because that's what it would take to stop me from going in the future. But with all good things there are bad elements too...like buying FOOD.

Everyone gets hungry at conventions and once you catch a whiff of something delicious they have you! You could try and dine outside of the convention center but it's a no win situation. Most places close by are very expensive and there is a reason for this. LOCATION-LOCATION-LOCATION!!! If your attending a con then you must have money to spend. But if you stay at the con and eat con food you're pretty much doomed as well!

For instance...this past weekend Jedi-G and I got two small deli sandwiches at the Con. By small I mean one quarter of a foot long sub. We got to the register and it came out to $17!!! I was SHOCKED and slightly angered. I couldn't believe it.

My suggestion for future cons is to brown bag it. Go to a local deli and buy something to make basic sandwiches (ham, cheese, bread). Remember not to buy to much meat...because it spoils!  Don't forget bottled water too while you're there as the con will charge you at least $3.50.

I know I would have liked to buy a few things at the con but the food vendors took so much money away from our wallets that it was impossible! So next time plan ahead folks. I know I will.
