In
July 2006, I assembled my AOTC Anakin Skywalker costume
and attended San Diego
Comic Con on the Friday of the event. I had
arranged with my MySpace friend, Bryan
Morton, to meet him there. It was my first time
going anywhere in public in costume
outside Halloween. I was excited but
nervous. I didn't know what to do. I didn't
know where to go. I was amazed at how large and
expansive the exhibit floor was. I
didn't know about panels or vendors. I met up with
Bryan but also got to meet
Danakin and Obi-Dan, who I was immediately impressed and
amazed with. I felt very
inadequate in my amateur costume, but was later
reassured that it was fine. It was
that event that turned my perspective around, and I
decided to improve my Anakin
costume to be more representative. Two years
later, I've completed more versions of
the Anakin costumes and expanded to other characters,
attended multiple Cons, and
brought excitement and joy to convention attendees of
all age and sizes. |
